Visit to Akropong School for the Blind - May 12 2007
Old Vandals have since 2000 adopted the Akropong School for the Blind, and has been making annual pilgrimages to the serene Akuapem Hills to visit, interact and present gifts and essential items to the school. Vandals have, on occasions, invited the school to participate in OVA activities such as Home-comings and Floats.
On May 12, 2007 Old Vandals paid a special visit to the School. The delegation was led by Prof. Harry Akussah, Master of Commonwealth Hall. In a short address, Prof. Akussah urged the students to take their studies seriously and not to allow the situation they find themselves in to be a barrier to their progress in life. The Headmaster of the School, Mr. Agble and his staff expressed appreciation for the continuous support by Old Vandals and Commonwealth Hall to the school. Mr. Agble said the School is 62 years old and it is the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. He however, appealed to Vandals for furniture and brail equipment.
Vandals freely interacted with the school children and their teachers and gave gifts of food items, clothing and cash to the school. Vandals were treated to great music by children of the school.
In the entourage were Mr. John Mbroh, vice Chairman of the Jubiliee Planning Committee, Mr. Lawrence Bonney (Instanbul), Mr. Kwame Takyi, National Secretary, Mr. Isaac Nketiah Sarpong, Nat. Treasurer, Mr. Kofi Agbogah, Nat. vice Secretary, Mr. Nartey (Lion) Kodjo Anniah (Scally) and Ohene B. Dankwah (flying saucer) among others. Transportation was kindly provided by the Ghana Immigration Service.

Durbar of Vandal Traditional Rulers - June 30 2007
If the eclipse of the sun observed by Ghanaians and people the world over last year was a rare spectacle made by the Almighty, the Durbar of Vandal Traditional Rulers was even rarer and can be dreamed of and executed by only Vandals. The Chiefs/Kings descended on the Vandal city from the length and breadth of the country with colour, pump, tradition, culture, grace and beauty. The show was so spectacular that the security apparatus of Col. Muamar Gaddafi on campus was drifted from its schedule to look at the Vandals.
Some came with great dancers, others with colour and musketry, beautiful ladies and executioners. Others came with the whole traditional area with culture at its best. Others still came with grace. On that day, Legon Campus became the cultural hub of the country momentarily.
They have come from the four corners of Ghana. .Oh, the Vandals again! The list was tall- Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II (former IGP Mr. Peter Nanfuri) - Paramount Chief of Jirapa; Nii Amar III (aka, Foofo, aka Lawyer Willie Amarfio) - Dzaase of Asere; Nana Kobina Nketia - Paramount Chief of Essikado; Osagyefou Agyeman Badu - Paramount Chief of Dormaa; Torbgui Agbali III - Paramount Chief of Blekusu Traditional Area; Torgbui Dakudedzii III - sub-chief of Leklebi Traditional Area
But for some other pressing engagements, Nana Akouko Sarpong, Paramount Chief of Agogo Traditional Area, Daasebre Prof. Emeritus Oti Boateng, Paramount chief of New Juabeng Tradtional Area and Torgbui Afede IV would have been there to make the occasion grander. They were, however, there with us in spirit. For other good reasons Nana Antwi (Charlie Pee) sub-chief of Akwatia, Nana Obohene and Nana Buemhene could not make it but sent their apologies.
The occasion was Chaired by Prof. Hagan (old Vandal) and Chairman of the National Commission on Culture. The Keynote was delivered by the Minister for Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon S.K Boafo (MP) and the Special Guest of Honour was Nana Boakyewaa Yiadom I Ohemaa of Adamorebe and Asakyirihemaa of Aburi. (Mrs. K.K. Appeadu).
The event could be summarized in one word - SPECTACULAR. And the message was simple – Vandals united through culture and tradition.
